One Bot, Many Parts

Started work on the MAHQ GBF challenge. I have assembled most of the additional components aside from the main unit. That's taking a bit longer.

The Failures of the USPS

So I have received all of the component parts for my Gundam Build fighters challenge except for the actual main body kit. Apparently, it took less than a week for it to go from Japan to New York city. Then it took 8 days for the United States Postal Service to get around to sending it to New Jersey from which it will now make its way down to me in Miami. My hatred of the USPS goes back many years and is no secret. The part I really don't understand is that at the same time a separate package, also from Japan, arrived in New York city on the same day, and that managed to get to me last week. WTF?

Kshatriya Completed!

 

So one project done so far this year. Now it's up to Justin to figure out how to transport this thing home to Trinidad. It came out okay for a straight build with no paint. Panel lining and shading took a while but was worth it, in my opinion.

I want to work on something next to let me test out my Real Touch markers. I have a HGUC Zaku II I might build for that purpose. At least until my Verde Buster arrives and I can start working on my contest entry.

I also have my disassembled SD Sinanju awaiting base coating and painting. Regardless, success serves as a springboard and propels us forward. Time to keep moving.

Gundam Build Fighter MAHQ Challenge

On the MAHQ Facebook group a challenge came up to assemble and display what model you would personally take in for Gundam Battle if the technology actually existed. My design is the "Season Two" last half upgrade or an MSV from a story idea long dwelling in my head, Patriotic Spirits. This is the ultimate form of the Siege unit.

The model will be made with parts from four HG kits in total: Verde Buster forms the body base, the backpack/flight platform from the Justice, weapons and leg missile packs from the Heavy Arms Custom, and arms and chobham from the Gundam NT-1. I'm adding in items from Weapons Pack 3 as well to round it out. And, I received the airbrush stencils I supported from a Kickstarter so I can use them to add more fun to the custom paint job (in patriotic Red, White, and Blue).

The problem is that I have until the show ends and I'm still waiting on two kits to arrive from  two separate stores in Japan, and the weapon pack from Hobbywave. So I don't know if this will be completed in time but it will look awesome once done. I hope. :p

Lunchtime Diversion

During lunch I like to close off my office, put on my headphones, and work on Gunpla. I finished my SD Sinanju, took it home, and took it apart ready for painting. It's going to live in my car as it's mascot.

Slow but continuing progress

The Kshatriya continues slowly. Chest, arms/shoulder assembled. It's going to be interesting how the shield(?) units attach and manipulate. I really don't know if an action base can support this thing. Anyway, Justin is coming down in a few weeks so I'll deliver it to him then and he can transport it back to Carribbean Hell.

WIP - Kshatriyas, part 1

This year is off to a rough start between work and illness. But, my brain is getting better enough to get some progress made. The upper torso and head are together so far and I have been doing the panel lining and touch-ups as I went along. Six steps down, thirty-five to go. It's getting there.

I am really not liking the chest sticker though. I might need to go back and strip it and paint it.
